The apartments at Columbus Station are centrally-located so that you can easily while away the weekend and fill it with fun. Here’s an itinerary for the perfect fall Saturday in Virginia Beach! The tourists have all gone home and we’re grabbing our hoodies. Get ready to enjoy sunny afternoons and crisp weather–a Virginia Beach local’s favorite season!
Start your day by stepping out onto your balcony and enjoy the morning air. (Every unit at Columbus Station Apartments has a screened porch, and it’s one of the many features residents love!) Sip your coffee, but don’t worry about making breakfast–you’re dining out today!
Whether you’re in search of breakfast or brunch, there is no shortage of dining options at Town Center. Columbus Station apartments is a two-minute walk from Tupelo Honey cafe, and their buttermilk biscuits are exactly what you need to start the weekend. If you’re hungry for more, they have classic comfort foods like chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. Or maybe you’d prefer something lighter, like avocado toast or a harvest bowl. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, and can’t do it on an empty stomach!
Most of the Town Center retailers will be open by 10am. Stop by Williams-Sonoma to stock your kitchen with some new cookware, or maybe just pick up some seasonal table linens to usher in autumn. As the weather gets cooler, you’ll want to get more cozy. Pottery Barn has soft knit blankets, and you can pick up a nice sweater at Anthropologie or Brooks Brothers. Cooler weather may require some updates to your skincare routine, but Blue Mercury has your needs covered with luxury brands and high-quality ingredients.
After all that shopping, you may have worked up an appetite! We recommend lunch at Taste, a Virginia Beach staple for more than 50 years. Their classic sandwiches have been a favorite for generations of locals, and you can find a variety of homegrown flavors. Before you leave, be sure to select a bottle of wine to take home. (Their selection covers a wide range of varietals.) If you need a pick-me-up, swing by Town Center Cold Pressed for a refreshing cup of locally-roasted coffee. And if you’re just looking for something sweet, check out Lamia’s Crepes.
The afternoon brings more opportunities for fun! Head over to Mount Trashmore. The location regularly hosts community events and festivals, or could have a low-key afternoon walking around the lake or flying kites at the top of the hill. Kids absolutely love the playground, and it’s relaxing to just stroll around and watch the ducks.
When you’re ready for dinner, you’ll have no shortage of options near your home at Columbus Station Apartments. PF Chang’s, Quirks, and Keagan’s Irish Pub offer casual dining options. If you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, try Interlude, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, or Cantina Laredo. You’ll want to eat early, because the night is young and there’s lots to do!
Town Center’s evening options have something for everyone. Catch the latest blockbuster at Regal Columbus Cinemas, with multiple screens and plush stadium seating. Apex Entertainment is a great option if you want to have some youthful fun, with bowling, mini-golf, go-carts, a ropes course, and an arcade–all under one roof! And if you’re seeking more traditional evening entertainment, look no further than the Zeider’s American Dream Theater, or the Sandler Center for the Arts, both of which have live theater or live music performances year-round. From improv comedy to classical music, the arts are alive and well in Town Center.
Top off the night with a beer at Three Notch’d Brewing or a cocktail at Twist Martini bar, then head back home to Columbus Station Apartments. If you didn’t manage to do it all on your Saturday itinerary, there’s always Sunday!
