The Best Places to Enjoy a Picnic around Virginia Beach

The enjoyment of picnics dates back to medieval times. Originally held indoors, they were an activity only for the wealthy for hundreds of years. If you would like to enjoy this pastime, pack some fried chicken and lemonade, and head to one of these parks near our Town Center apartments:

Bayville Farms Park

A Virginia Beach favorite since 1978, the Bayville Farms Park boasts the perfect setting for an afternoon picnic. It features tables and three large picnic pavilions with charcoal grills for when you want to invite a crowd. After your meal, enjoy a round of disc golf. An 18-hole course runs through the park and offers challenges for beginners and seasoned players alike. Other activities include basketball, tennis, and shuffleboard.

Munden Point Park

Nestled on 100 acres along the North Landing River, Munden Point Park draws a crowd. Start your visit at one of the mini or large picnic shelters. They both feature charcoal grills and beautiful scenery. The park also offers a wide range of recreational activities sure to keep you busy for hours. Show off your basketball skills, paddle a kayak, and much more.

Stumpy Lake Natural Area

Stretching over 1,400 acres, the Stumpy Lake Natural Area draws nature lovers from near and far. Explorers along the entrance road could spot songbirds, reptiles, amphibians, and maybe even a North American river otter or two. Along with watching for wildlife, visitors can also fish, play golf, and canoe/kayak. A picnic shelter is nearby.

When the weather isn't suitable for a picnic, enjoy indoor fun at a nearby escape room. Your problem-solving skills will be tested unlike ever before.
