Lend a Helping Hand by Volunteering in Virginia Beach

Volunteering offers a fabulous way to give back to your community. Several area nonprofits are always looking for those willing to donate their time. Here are a few organizations that offer rewarding volunteer opportunities near our Virginia Beach apartments:

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels began serving Virginia Beach residents in 1974. For some clients, it's the only human interaction they enjoy all day. They receive hot lunches and brown-bag dinners, all prepared by a passionate culinary team. Meals on Wheels is currently looking for drivers. The meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. You can donate your time as little as one day (two hours per month) and work out a route that works best for you.

YMCA of South Hampton Roads

Believe it or not, sports like basketball and volleyball were invented at the Y. Locally, the YMCA began serving Hampton Roads in 1856. Today, it continues its long tradition of volunteering in Virginia Beach. You can play an important role. Help meet the needs of the children and adults who walk through the doors. Opportunities include coaching and helping with fundraising to ensure the YMCA can continue to offer fun classes and programs.

Virginia Beach Public Library

The Virginia Beach Public Library is where new chapters begin. It welcomes a range of patrons, from children seeking materials for school to adults who come to find resources in search of a new job. Volunteers help keep the library running. Tasks may include assisting with original creative programming and promoting the library in the community.

After volunteering, enjoy the flavors of the Caribbean at a nearby restaurant. If you are searching for a place to call home, please contact us. Our friendly leasing team will show you everything our vibrant community has to offer.
