Enjoy an Evening with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra

Boasting 100 years of history, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra is at the center of the Hampton Roads arts community. Every season, it presents a series of classics, pop songs, and family concerts. It also touches the lives of over 100,000 patrons every year. When you are ready for a night of music, here are a few of the musicians who will entertain you near our Town Center apartments:

Allegra Tortolano Havens

A member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for more than 25 years, Allegra Tortolano Havens is a seasoned musician who enjoys playing different genres. She performs across the country and is the first call violinist for touring Broadway shows like Chicago and The Lion King. When Allegra isn't on stage, you'll likely find her spending time with her family or cheering on the Red Sox.

Sherie Lake Aguirre

Sherie Lake Aguirre graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in performance. Today, she's the orchestra's principal oboist and has held principal positions with other organizations like the Singapore Symphony and La Sinfonica de Madrid. You may also see Sherie play as a part of the Norfolk Chamber Consort.

Jorge Aguirre

Married to Sherie, Jorge Aguirre is a Peru native who studied at the Conservatorio Nacional. Jorge joined the Virginia Symphony Orchestra after his wife earned the first oboe position. He also plays with the Virginia Opera and is the first violinist for the Four Seasons String Quartet. If Jorge's not performing, you may find him in the classroom. He has taught at places such as Hampton University and Old Dominion University.
